fliitz

The easiest mileage log in Austria.

A small plug in your car, or the app on your phone, records every trip. You tap once: business or private. Your accountant gets the rest ready-made.

Light, phone only, is free. Premium, with the plug, is €10 a month. Both free to try for 14 days. Your data stays in Europe and is kept for seven years, exactly as the Austrian tax office requires.

Two ways, one logbook

You decide how your trips get into the book. Both land in the same app, both count for the tax office.

Premium, with the fliitz plugJust drive

The plug sits in the OBD port under the steering wheel and records every trip by itself, including the odometer reading from the car. You don't have to think about anything, and your phone can stay at home.

  • Odometer reading comes straight from the car
  • Nothing missing, even when somebody else drives
  • The plug arrives by post, fitting it takes a minute

Light, phone onlyStart, drive, stop

No plug, no post. Before you set off you tap Record in the app, and Stop when you arrive. Your phone measures the distance by GPS.

  • Start right away, in a rental or your own car too
  • Trips can also be added by hand afterwards
  • Switch to the plug later without losing anything

Light is free, Premium is €10 a month. You can move from Light to Premium at any time in the settings, and your old trips stay where they are.

This is all there is to it

Nothing to remember. Three steps, and from then on your logbook more or less keeps itself.

Step 1Create an account

Email, password, done. The plug comes by post, or you download the app and set off straight away.

Step 2Drive

Every trip is recorded with start, destination and kilometres. With the plug that happens by itself; with the phone, after one tap on Record.

Step 3Tap

After the trip, fliitz asks one short question on your phone: business or private? One tap, and the trip is in the book.

What you get out of it

Nobody keeps a mileage log for fun. You keep it because the tax office wants it. fliitz takes over the part that gets on your nerves.

Nothing to write up

No scraps of paper in the glovebox, no trips missing at the end of the month. Whatever was driven is already in there.

Ready for the tax office

Month, quarter or year as a PDF in one click, with the mileage allowance already worked out. Every trip is documented, every change traceable.

Private stays private

Private trips appear in the export with the date and the distance, nothing else. No address, no route. Where you drive on a Sunday is nobody's business.

Everything at a glance

You categorise on your phone; on the computer you see the whole month: every trip on the map, the business share, the mileage allowance, the export.

Does fliitz fit your car?

The plug needs the standard OBD port. Whether your car has one depends almost entirely on the fuel type and the year of first registration. Ten seconds to check.

And if it doesn't: with the phone, fliitz works in any car.

And what does your car give out through the port?

Engine speed, coolant temperature, engine load, road speed and fault codes are part of the mandatory set, so practically every car with a port delivers them. The odometer reading from the dashboard is not part of it: that depends on the model and the year. Which is exactly what this lookup is for.

Why the odometer of all things? Because in a mileage log it is the witness: if the chain of readings adds up without gaps, no trip is missing. If the car won't give it out, fliitz carries on with a GPS counter instead.

Common questions

What you'll want to know before you start. If something is missing, just ask.

Will the plug fit my car?

For petrol cars from 2001 and diesels from 2004 the port is mandatory, so almost always yes. It usually sits under the steering wheel. You can check it for your own car further up this page.

What's the difference between Light and Premium?

Light runs on the phone alone: you tap Record before you set off and Stop when you arrive, and the phone measures the distance by GPS. Premium comes with the fliitz plug. It sits in the car and records every trip by itself, including the odometer reading from the car, even when your phone is at home. Reporting, export and retention are the same in both.

What is the €49 activation fee for on Premium?

It covers the plug as a loan device, the postage and setting up your account. It is charged once. With the yearly offer it is €50 activation on top of the €100 for the first year.

What happens to the plug if I cancel?

The plug stays our property. After you cancel you send it back; you get the address with the confirmation. If it doesn't come back, €100 becomes due.

Can I switch from Light to Premium?

At any time, in the settings. The plug then comes by post, the activation fee is charged once, and your existing trips stay exactly where they are.

What if I don't have my phone with me?

With the plug, nothing happens. It records the trip anyway, and the question of business or private waits on your phone until you have a moment.

Can anyone see where I drive privately?

No. Private trips appear in the export with the date and the distance only. The address and the route stay with you.

Will the tax office accept this?

A mileage log has to be complete and impossible to alter after the fact. That is exactly what fliitz is built for: every trip carries an odometer reading, every change is recorded, and the data is kept for seven years. If a trip were missing, it would show up immediately.

Is the app in English?

Not yet. This page is English, but the app and the web account are currently in German. If English matters to you, tell us — it moves up the list.

How do I get started?

Create an account, download the app, drive. With Premium the plug arrives by post over the next few days, setting it up takes about ten minutes, and if you get stuck, one of us will help.
